LES MISERABLES PT 1 SUMMARY

    The first book of Les Miserables is mostly about Bishop Myriel and his kind gestures and a bit of his

 

background story. He spend time with a man sentenced to death, no one wanted to spend time with this 

man in his last moments. He gave his home "a castle" to medical professionals to treat patients during the 

epidemic going on because there was no more space in hospitals and he moved into a smaller home. The 

Bishop opened his home to Jean Valeign who had just been released from prison and no one wanted to 

give him a place to stay and the Bishop took him under his wing.
