    In chapter 2 of book 2, Madame Maglorie hears about Jean Valjean getting released from prison and persuades the Bishop to lock up the doors to his home. As she is trying to persuading the Bishop someone knocks on the door. Despite Madame Maglorie trying to persuade the Bishop to not open the door, he does.
