   In this chapter of Les Miserables, we learn that Bishop Myriel was not a powerful man. He'd rather be 

unknown than to be in the spotlight. He helps people weather or no they want or need his help. To him 

everyone is equal to each other and no one is superior than one another. He doesn't nor wishes he was a 

"powerful man".
